The inner tissues of our skin such as collagen and fat help us looking youthful. They start to break down as we age, often leaving us the unwanted lines that most of the time related to the muscles of facial expression, i.e. the smile lines, the crow’s feet and deep creases over the area where movement occurs resulting for you to look aged. However, as a result of collagen and fat break down the skin sagginess also starts to contribute a great deal to an aged appearance. But thanks to the overwhelming credits from technology we already have multiple ways in correcting the unwanted lines on our face, and that is by the introduction of dermal Fillers.
A vast majority of facial fillers are hyaluronic acid based fillers, which is a naturally occurring part of human tissue and therefore are very safe. These are natural base acids that is organic and naturally produced by our body yet when we come of age the production of this acid decreases, it helps to add volume and hydration of the skin. During the procedure, hyaluronic acid fillers will be injected in the area to be corrected and it will fill the creased and sunken areas of the skin very naturally and with a flattering result. Dermal fillers are suitable for all skin types. We only make exception, for those ladies that are pregnant, whereas as a matter of safety dermal fillers are temporarily contraindicated.
Dermal fillers are an injectable treatment of a gel-like substance which is placed underneath a skin or wrinkle to help smooth the appearance of a wrinkle or/and to replace volumes that have been lost because of an aging face. They can also be used in enhancing the definition of a certain feature such as lip volume. Dermal fillers can help fill the laughter lines, smile lines, so-called crow’s feet around the eyes creating a smoother and youthful looking appearance. When dermal fillers are injected underneath the skin, they plump up creased in sunken areas of the face. Dermal facial fillers are also used in adding volume or providing better definition to certain areas once again like the lips creating a plumper lips for a pretty look or to raise cheekbones because as we grow older our cheekbones loose the fat and tissues that make it look plumper.
Hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers are expected to last in the body about 6 to 12 months, it is something that the body is able to break down quite naturally, so it is advised to have them every year to maintain a youthful looking skin. Hyaluronic acid fillers only stay in place only if it is suitable for that area and the strength of hyaluronic acid to be used depends on the area where it will be applied.
Dermal fillers can be applied in the wrinkles and folds between the nose to mouth lines which was called nasolabial lines, mouth to chin lines or the marionette lines, the under eye area or the tear troughs, the frown lines, upper lip lines and the smile lines. It is also used in the lips, cheeks and chin for volume enhancement.
As a preparation before the dermal fillers treatment, we will check your medical history and there are instances that a procedure may be postponed. This will be discussed during your consultation. It is best to ask a corresponding prescription from your us in your consultation if you had a history of cold sore, for in some instances these treatments may cause cold sore outbreak. Dermal facial fillers treatment takes up to 45 minutes to an hour where local anesthetic will be applied to the face but the injection itself will only take 15 to 20 minutes only. Your face will be cleaned to minimize infection during the procedure so before the treatment it may not be necessary to wear any makeup going to your treatment appointment. This procedure will be performed using a very fine needle inserted underneath the skin and followed with a very slow injection of a colorless smooth homogenous gel which does lift a line so that we have an immediate result. Sometimes a little massage is required which depends on the depth of that product that we are using. The Dermal Fillers procedure will sometimes result to temporary bruising, redness and swelling on the treatment site.
The extent of the treatment is immediate, fast and long lasting. Dermal fillers can last from 6 to 12 months depending on the area and on the individual, a shorter lifespan if injected along the mouth or in areas that has high movement or musculature. With repeated treatments, the benefits of dermal fillers builds up that the effects will be greater and stays longer over time.
